The Everglades is a park that has a wide range of wildlife inhabiting it. All the animals in this park are protected by law and it is forbidden to touch them as well as feed them. The best season to see the most wildlife is the winter dry season: animals will be going around the park freely and will not try to hide every time.
Birds
Let’s first talk about animals that you can spot in the sky as well as on the land. An interesting fact is that the name Everglades has always been associated with birds due to the huge number of this type of animal that you can see over there. The main bird attraction of the park is the wading bird. There are sixteen different of wading birds currently living in the Everglades. They go their name because of the way they wade into the water to catch their food. Most of them have a long, curve and slender beak in order to catch the food in the mud as well as very long legs.
Mammals
In this park, you have the possibility to spot forty different species of mammals. All of them have adapted themselves to the semi-aquatic environment of the Everglades, even if they firstly come from drier habitats like fields and forest. Among the mammals that inhabits this park, one can find white-tailed deer, marsh rabbits, raccoons and opossums. If you’re lucky, you will even be able to spot bobcats or foxes hiding in the bushes. Most of them will be able to ”swim” at least a little : that’s why they can all live in the Everglades. Every mammal will found their food directly in the park.
